The volcano rolls were great. First time visiting this place and definitely will go back again for lunch. Ambiance is nice and the wait was not long at all! Definitely get some edamame if you enjoy it

Worst sushi i have had in Tallahassee other than on a crappy all you can eat buffet. Let's preface this with we did get it To go, when we came in there were two tables seated, we ordered 6 rolls, took a while but nothing too crazy, they were packaged two to a styrofoam container, small, the rolls were small- I spent $80 for 3 styrofoam containers of small sushi rolls
Condiments were very light and they did not package any pickled ginger.
We got home and started eating
The rolls were very loosely rolled, as in falling apart, the tuna atop one of the rolls smelled strongly of fish, like stunk. The eel was horrible as well, needless to say we won't be back and would not recommend this place to anyone. Not fresh,  poorly made, poorly executed, I'm sorry but there are no redeeming qualities for our visit, avoid this place, I'm just hoping we don't get sick later in the evening, yes, it was that bad.

Way better than I imagined a sushi restaurant in a strip mall to be. Really good service and dedicated owners who provide a fine dining experience in a humble location. The inside has nice decor and would work nicely for an intimate evening out. Since it's smaller it may not work well for very large groups, but I'm sure 6 or so would be just fine.

The sushi was very good and there were a wide variety of different rolls to choose from. We had the Blackburn's roll, Tuna Lover roll, and the Crunch Shrimp roll. This was a perfect mix of flavors for us and the presentation was beautiful.

I've been here a few times over the past couple years and have mixed feelings about the place.

This is an idiosyncratic little mom-and-pop restaurant. Hidden in a quiet, shady corner of a strip mall, the front windows display Japanese art, the restaurant's name, and an ichthys. Inside, the interior is dimly lit, contemporary Christian music plays quietly, and tables of various sizes are arranged with generous space between them.

There are no employees, just a man (the sushi chef) and woman (the hostess). There aren't any earth-shatteringly creative rolls here; the combinations are all pretty familiar. The one thing they do that I haven't seen elsewhere is, for the rolls that come with that gooey spicy mayo mixture on top, they bake the topping.

The good: The majority of the rolls I've tried were good. The atmosphere is always quiet and relaxing. The arrangement of the tables allows for plenty of privacy and accommodates various group sizes. Also, they never seem busy, so you rarely have many customers ahead of you.

    The less good:
    1. I ordered a volcano roll and kamikaze roll the other day thinking the baked spicy mayo toppings would be really good, but I was wrong. By the time I got back to the office, the topping was cold and oil was slowly draining from it onto the bottom of the styrofoam container. Eating the rolls resulted in a case of the itis like you might get from a fried chicken place.
    2. I'm not religious, so the religious ambiance is a little off-putting.
    3. The lack of employees results in consistently slow, though attentive, service.

The takeaway: This place is close to my work, and their non-baked rolls are good, so I will be back. But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

OMG OMG OMG!! This is by far the most excellent sushi restaurant in town. Unassuming but exquisite.

Everything about it just said Excellence to me. Firstly, the sushi cake appetizer - we had bbq eel - was just divine. We also ordered the sushi combo and were delighted it included fatty tuna!!!

The sake we had was so smooth and elegant. And the couple running the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. Granted they were out of several menu items but everything that touched our lips was just ambrosia. I also appreciated they were open during that awkward 3-5pm period which seems to be when I crave sushi.

Everything from the decor to the atmosphere to the food is done with such attention and care. We will be back and will be regulars.
